Cultural Arts
The City's Cultural Arts programs are managed by the
Administration Department and include
Cultural Grants-in-Aid, and
Community Partnerships
with other organizations providing
cultural activities for the community. The
Public
Art Program is
managed by the City's Parks and Recreation Department.
Tourism Promotion
Through the
Promotional Coordinating Committee, staff provides
oversight to tourism promotional and advertising contracts,
"seed money" for new promotional opportunities and special
events that enhance tourism under the Enhanced Promotions
Program, and the Cultural
Grants-in-Aid program.
In June of 2008,
The City Council adopted an ordinance establishing the
Tourism Business Improvement District
(TBID). The
TBID
raises funds that are solely dedicated to tourism marketing and
promotions to attract visitors to San Luis Obispo and its lodging
industry.
Special Services
Special
services provided by the Administration Department include
oversight of the Cable Television Franchise and Charter
Communications and
No Smoking and Cigarette Sales Ordinances,
as well as conducting the
Community Academy, an educational program that
provides the citizens of San Luis Obispo with the opportunity to gain additional knowledge about municipal government. |
